Open Venues is an initiative encouraging venue-based cultural institutions to provide their space free of charge to artists for creative and professional development opportunities.
Open Venues was set up in Brighton in August 2020 and is currently run at Fabrica and Brighton Dome.
The initiative was set up following a consultation with Brighton based artists and performers and aims to provide artists the time and space to develop new work while connecting cultural organisations to local talent.
Our long term aim is to:
encourage other venue based cultural organisations in Brighton to join the initiative
develop the initiative to create a network of interconnected venues providing a production hub for the city
encourage other artist-led networks across the UK to replicate this model by sharing the knowledge and experience we gained so far
